Announced as FINALIST in the 2015 Mosman Art Prize

Sally is thrilled to announce she is a FINALIST in the 2015 Mosman Art Prize with her painting “Yellow Van At Queenscliff”, 120x150cm, oil on canvas. Now in its 68th year, the Mosman Art Prize is one of the oldest and most prestigious municipally funded visual art prizes in Australia. It is an annual, acquisitive award for painting sponsored by Mosman Municipal Council. The official opening function and announcement of the Mosman Art Prize will take place on Tuesday evening, 28 July 2015 beginning at 6.30pm at the Mosman Art Gallery.

Announced WINNER of the 2014 Hornsby Art Prize, Painting Section

“Bin Night, Queenscliff Road”, 100x100cm, oil on canvas, was announced WINNER of the Painting Section in the 2014 Hornsby Art Prize. The Hornsby Art Prize is an annual art award and the exhibition is sponsored by Hornsby Shire Council and delivered in partnership with the Hornsby Art Society.

Announced as WINNER of the Mayor’s Award in the 2015 Waverley Art Prize

Sally is thrilled to announce that “The Tractor – Plein Air”, 60x75cm, oil on canvas, has been announced WINNER of the Mayor’s Award in the 2015 Waverley Art Prize. This year’s judging panel consists of 2014 Archibald Prize winner, Fiona Lowry and Art Atrium Director and Founder, Simon Chan.
The Waverley Art Prize 2015 finalists exhibition will be open to the public between 10am – 4pm daily from the 3 – 12 July 2015.

Announced as a FINALIST in 2015 Outback Art Prize

Sally is thrilled to be announced once again as a FINALIST in the 2015 Outback Art Prize. This year 2 paintings (“The Road Boss – Plein Air”, 120x150cm, oil on canvas, and “The Windmill – Plein Air”, 120x180cm, oil on canvas) have been selected by the Judge, Director of The Mosman Art Gallery, John Cheeseman. This is an annual acquisitive competition and the winning work will be added to the significant and extensive permanent collection of the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery. Announced As Finalist In The 2015 Lethbridge Small Scale Art Prize.

The Lethbridge Gallery has established a strong reputation for exhibiting works demonstrating exceptional creativity. With the intention of fostering the next generation of artists, Lethbridge Gallery initiated the Lethbridge 10000 Small Scale Art Prize.
Now in its sixth year, this exciting art competition is open to national and international artists for small-scale artworks. Entrants may submit paintings, drawings, photographs and all 2D artworks up to 61cm (24 inches) in any direction. The judging is based on three equally evaluated criteria of creativity, originality and skill with $10 000 awarded to the winner.

Sally is thrilled to be a FINALIST in 2015 with “The Teapot Mum Gave Me”, 60x60cm, oil on canvas.

Announced as FINALIST in the 2015 NSW Parliament Plein Air Art Prize

Sally is honoured to be included in the list of finalists for the 2015 NSW Parliament Plein Air Art Prize with her painting “Caravan and Amenities Block at El Lago Waters – Plein air”, 90x120cm, oil on canvas.  The NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize is an acquisitive art prize of $20,000, awarded for the best ‘plein air’ painting of NSW subject. The NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize is an annual event and is recongised by plein air artists throughout Australia. The Parliament of NSW encourages all artists to enter, with finalists and semi-finalists exhibited at the Parliament of NSW, Sydney in June and July 2015. Announced as a FINALIST in the 2014 Portia Geach Art Prize

 

Sally West has been selected for a 3rd time as a finalist in Australia’s most revered portrait prize for female artists, the Portia Geach Memorial Award. The judging panel said:

“Painting is alive and well amongst the new generation of female artists in Australia and this list of finalists reads like a who’s who of the future of Art in this country”.
